Student Chapters

Welcome to the World of Opportunity for Students of Human Resources in Georgia.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Georgia State Council supports many student chapters throughout the state. There are nine active student chapters and several inactive chapters waiting for motivated students to reenergize them. Contact information on student chapters is available by clicking here.

Taking part in a student chapter provides students with the opportunity to exercise leadership skills and hone the art of networking with other human resource professionals and business leaders in a real world setting. The networking opportunity extends beyond the state to over four hundred student chapters and over five hundred professional chapters in the United States . Participating in a student chapter affords the student opportunities for internships, exposure to educational and professional development offerings, and human resource related activities that set them apart from their peers. One of the most exciting events offered each year is the HR Games. Student Chapters may register for the HR Games in the state and/or the region. If they qualify, they are then invited to compete for the national title at the SHRM National Conference held at exciting locations throughout the country. Other benefits for student chapters in Georgia often include discount membership in local professional chapters, discount registrations for conferences and seminars, opportunities to host or support campus job fairs to interact with local, regional, state, and national recruiters. Each spring the Georgia State Council hosts a legislative conference, which includes a visit to the State Capitol and face time with state legislators. Members of Student chapters are encouraged to attend and often chapter leaders are invited through sponsorship dollars.
